Neighborhood Christian School exists to partner with families in providing an excellent, Christ-centered education that develops each student spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically.

Our approach rests on four pillars that shape every aspect of the student experience:

Neighborhood Christian School has been providing this threefold cord to the families of our community since 1979.

 

We are committed to meeting our students where they are, challenging them to grow, and equipping them for wherever God leads. Our qualified, caring staff knows every student by name and is dedicated to walking alongside families as partners in their child's education.

OUR HISTORY

Educating students for life since 1979

Neighborhood Christian School was founded in by Deryl Radder with a vision for providing families in the Dixon community with a high-quality, faith-centered education. What began as a small group of dedicated families has grown into a thriving school serving students from Preschool through 8th grade.

 

Located on the campus of Dixon Community Church at 955 East A Street, NCS has remained true to its founding mission for over four decades. The school is a proud member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and maintains full accreditation through ACSI.

 

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, NCS is supported by tuition, donations, and the generous commitment of its community. Every dollar goes directly toward fulfilling our mission of educating the whole child.

Our educational goals reflect our commitment to developing the whole child across four key areas.

Intellectual Growth

We strive to develop each student's God-given intellectual abilities through a rigorous, Bible-integrated curriculum. Students are taught to think critically, solve problems creatively, and pursue knowledge as a means of understanding God's world. Our students consistently score 1–2 grade levels above national averages on standardized assessments.

Spiritual Growth

Through daily prayer, weekly chapel services, and Bible-integrated instruction across all subjects, students develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a biblical worldview. We encourage students to grow in faith, understand Scripture, and apply God's truth to every area of their lives.

Social Development

Students learn to love and serve others through community service projects, food drives, and outreach activities. We cultivate respect, kindness, and responsibility — equipping students to be positive citizens who reflect Christ's love in their relationships and their community.

Working with Families

We believe parents are the primary educators of their children. NCS partners with families to reinforce the values taught at home, maintaining open communication and providing a supportive environment where parents, teachers, and the local church work together for each child's benefit.

Our History

Neighborhood Christian School was founded in 1979 to meet the educational and spiritual needs of children in Solano and Yolo Counties. The school began under the leadership of Deryl Radder, an educator and man of faith, who planted Neighborhood Christian in the community of Dixon with a heart for missions. Neighborhood Christian School has continued through the years with this same heart in educating students to make an impact upon the world.

Neighborhood is a private Christian Preschool, Elementary, and Middle School with a friendly family atmosphere. Our staff is qualified, caring, and committed to educating children for life. NCS is a long-standing member of the Association of Christian Schools, Inc. (ACSI) and is registered with the state of California as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Neighborhood Christian School admits students of any race, color, national, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities made available to students at the school.

Spiritual Growth

At Neighborhood Christian School, students learn about God's purpose for their lives, see His involvement in their studies, and understand His desire for a personal relationship with each of them.

Academic Excellence

Our students consistently score one to two grade levels above national norms on the Stanford Achievement Test. We provide an encouraging and disciplined classroom environment that fosters academic success.

Social Maturity

Students engage in various community activities, such as participating in canned food drives, visiting convalescent homes, praying for others, and reaching out to children in developing nations, thereby fostering a sense of social responsibility and maturity.

Physical Development

We emphasize sportsmanship and teamwork through our physical education programs, encouraging students to lead active lifestyles and build a healthy foundation for life.
